Delta emergency services offers advice on being ready for an earthquake
When an earthquake hits, could you be self- supportive for up three days?
If not, Delta's municipal and emergency services personnel have some ways to be ready at a Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program (NEPP) seminar Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in North Delta (11375 84th Ave.).
DPD officials remind the public that the first 72 hours is a critical time when emergency responders may be overwhelmed with calls for service.
NEPP then explores how, in cooperation with your neighbours, you can work with a team to mitigate the threat of a disaster and increase your ability to respond to the event in a collaborative effort.
Guest speaker at the event is earthquake expert, Dr. John Cassidy, a Research Scientist with the National
Research Council-Geological Survey of Canada.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be refreshments and door prizes.
