The Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall is helping carry part of the financial burden of those residents forced to leave their homes due to a fire by helping mall customers carry their shopping.
Mall officials have kicked off the Neighbours Helping Neighbours fundraiser by offering for sale limited edition, reusable shopping bags. One hundred per cent of the $5 purchase price of the colourful bags go towards the Tsawwassen Terrace Fire Victim Fund.
An early morning fire on July 13 left one of the tenants of the two-storey building on 16th Ave. dead. Three suites were damaged, and 60 or so residents had to be evacuated.
The incident is still under investigation. No word yet on a possible cause.
The bags can be purchased at Sublime Art Supplies and gallery during mall hours—Mon. to Tbhurs. 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fri. 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sat. 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sun. noon to 5 p.m.
