Oktoberfest coming to Tsawwassen
Dust off those Lederhosen and get ready to raise a beer stein or two.
The spectacle that is Oktoberfest is coming to Tsawwassen.
The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen is presenting its first Oktoberfest Sept. 29 at the South Delta Recreation Centre at 7 p.m.
According to Rotary officials, they are hoping the traditional, festive evening will give both the club and community a fall event to celebrate the season in a Bavarian-style atmosphere.
Oktoberfest events take place around the world and usually run over an extended number of days. This first year Delta Oktoberfest will include just the one evening event, but the Rotary club hopes a successful first year will lead to a much larger, multi-day or weekend event other groups can also participate.
A variety of traditional foods will be served throughout the night, plus plenty of beer and other spirits.
The very popular Oktoberfest band S-Bahn will provides the evening's music and entertainment, giving people lots of games and contests that will be sure to engage everyone.
To ensure everyone’s safety, there will be shuttle buses available by donation, with many pick-up and drop-off spots within South Delta.
The Coast Tsawwassen Inn, located a block away, will also be providing discounted room rates. Check the Oktoberfest website (deltaoktoberfest.com) for details on these services.
Tickets are $30 and include admission, a free drink and entertainment. They can be purchased from the event's website or directly from Rotary club members.

A limited number of tickets are available, so early purchase is recommended.
No tickets will be available at the door, and patrons must be over 19 years to attend.
