Crime Beat: Porta potty set alight
TSAWWASSEN
Jan. 24, 1200 block Shaman Cres.: Overnight, suspect entered vehicle parked on driveway by cutting a hole in the convertible soft top. Suspect stole a garage remote control and then used remote to enter garage. Once inside suspect gained access to the house and stole cash, iPod, and a laptop computer while residents inside were asleep.
Jan. 24, 4700 Wesley Dr.: Between Jan. 23-24, suspect entered parked vehicle and stole a disposable camera.
Jan. 25, 800 block English Bluff Dr.: Sometime overnight, suspect entered car parked on driveway and rifled through glove box, stealing registration papers, car manual and tire gage. Flashlight used by suspect left at scene, recovered and turned over to police.
Jan. 25, 1000 block Skana Dr.: Overnight, suspect entered vehicle parked on driveway and stole Garmin GPS device worth $400.
Jan. 25, 1000 block Skana Dr.: Overnight, suspect entered parked vehicle and stole iPod valued at $400, and loose change, approx $25 worth.
Jan. 25, 1000 block Skana Dr.: Overnight, suspect entered parked car and rifled through the glove box. Nothing appears to have been stolen.
Jan. 26, 1200 56 St.: Overnight, suspect(s) broke into a commercial premise by prying the locked doors open, and then smashed the glass door to another business. Once inside, suspect(s) stole a computer video monitor. Damage and theft valued at $1,400. Pry bar and screwdriver found at scene turned over to police for forensic examination.
Jan. 27.: Complainant reported receiving a cheque in the mail for work she had done as a “secret shopper.” Complainant cashed the cheque and forwarded a portion of the money to a male known as “Baba.” It was later learned that the cheque was fraudulent. Still under investigation.
Jan. 27, 4900-block 1st Ave.: Suspect(s) pried open rear door to house, entered and stole computers and jewelry. Still under investigation.
Jan. 27, 1200 56 St.: Video showed suspect stealing a bottle of Old Spice Whiskey from the shelves. Complainant believes same male has stolen from him several times before. Still under investigation.
Jan. 29,. 1200 56 St.: Complainant watched suspect take grocery items and conceal them beneath his coat. Suspect walked out of the store without making any attempt to pay for the goods. White male, 50-55 years of age, 5ft 9 in, skinny build wearing blue jeans, a black or dark brown jacket and black baseball cap. Area checked for suspect, negative results. Still under investigation for video.
Jan. 30, 4800 Dogwood Dr.: Suspect broke into a car parked on driveway and stole a set of keys belonging to a second vehicle parked on the driveway and drove away with it. Theft occurred overnight.
Jan. 30, 4800 Dogwood Dr.: Complainant watched as an unknown male got out of a stopped vehicle and walked towards his front door. Assuming the male to be the morning newspaper carrier, complainant went to get the morning paper but found it had not yet been delivered. Complainant watched the vehicle leave but said it returned a second time before making a u-turn and leaving for good. Vehicle only described as an SUV type, no BCL or colour obtained.
Jan. 30, overnight, 5500 block Summer Way: Sometime overnight, suspect(s) entered unlocked vehicle and rifled through glove box. Stolen was a green Nintendo game player valued at $200.
LADNER
Jan. 23, 5200 block Ladner Trunk Rd.: Complainant reported that an unknown male had just stolen an iPhone 3GS from a local business and had fled in a silver coloured Honda. Complainant reported the plate of the vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Surrey. Two males and a female were seen in the vehicle as it fled. Still under investigation.
Jan. 27 to 28 overnight, 6900 block 36 Ave.: Complainant reported a break in to a construction site container. Suspect cut the locks to the container and stole several tools. Evidence seized for forensic examination.
Jan. 30, 6100 block Brodie Rd.: Complainant reported seeing a porta potty set on fire in Mountainview Park. Delta Fire attended and extinguished the fire. File is still under investigation.
