Huntington criticizes Liberal budget
The B.C. Liberal budget offers little for Delta residents, Delta South MLA Vicki Huntington said Tuesday (Feb. 15).
In a media release, the Independent MLA criticized the decision to cut funding to the Agricultural Land Commission by 5.5. per cent.
“Overall, it is another blow to the ALC and its ability to carry out its mandate to protect farmland,” she said, adding the move “is further confirmation that this government has no interest in the ALR (Agricultural Land Reserve).”
Finance Minister Colin Hansen presented a “status quo” budget Tuesday that he described as leaving a recovering B.C. economy for the next premier.
He also said one of the most significant decisions of 2011 will be made by voters directly—whether or not to keep the harmonized sales tax.
