Young thieves ram police cruiser in getaway bid
Delta Police got some help from their counterparts in Surrey to nab a pair of young thieves last Friday (Aug. 19) who rammed a police cruiser while making their getaway.
Delta Police responded to a theft in progress call in the 400 block of Seashell Drive in Tsawwassen where they attempted to stop the vehicle driven by the suspects—two males from Surrey aged 17 and 15.
Fleeing from the first officer they deliberately rammed a second cruiser that had arrived to offer support.
According to Delta Police, plain clothes officers in the area observed the fleeing vehicle and, with assistance of other plain clothes officers attending to the area, conducted covert surveillance on the suspects into Surrey.
With the help of the Surrey RCMP the pair was arrested when they pulled into a private driveway.
The pair are charged with theft, possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
