Update: Elderly man missing from Delta Hospital found safe
An elderly Alzheimer's patient who went missing from Delta Hospital Monday afternoon (March 19) has been located safe and sound in East Vancouver.
Delta Police found William McKinlay, 81, in the area of East 41 Ave. and
Victoria Dr. at 9:45 p.m. He has been returned to his care home in Ladner.
Delta Police had been asking for the public's help in locating McKinlay after he went missing at around 2 p.m. when hospital nursing staff were the last to see him.
When staff were unable to locate McKinlay in one of the hospital's wards they called the DPD.
Police were concerned for his wellbeing due to the cold weather and McKinlay's diminished capacity which made it unlikely he knew the area where he lived, or his actual address.
Last month (Feb. 26), McKinlay was reported missing from North Delta. He was later found, unharmed, a day later in Burnaby.
