Police officer assaulted following traffic stop in Ladner

A Delta Police officer was allegedly assaulted after making a traffic stop of a suspected impaired driver Tuesday afternoon (May 15) in Ladner.

According to the DPD, one of its members was responding to a report from another motorist who was following a vehicle being operated by a suspected impaired driver.

When the officer conducted the traffic stop of the suspect along Admiral Blvd. at around 3:30 p.m. the driver allegedly got out of his vehicle and became aggressive, did not comply with verbal direction given by the officer, and without provocation began to throw punches at the member.

The driver was arrested for assaulting a police officer and transported to Delta Police Headquarters.

The driver was also issued a  driving suspension, along with a violation ticket for having no vehicle insurance.

The officer was not hurt during the incident.
