What's your Best Of?

What do you love "Best Of" in Ladner and Tsawwassen?

The South Delta Leader wants to know in its annual "Best Of" survey.

Where's the best place to dine, get great customer service, or enjoy a stroll?

There's a question for just about every aspect of life here in South Delta. It's quick and easy to vote, and can be done daily until the Sept. 14 deadline.

Winners will be revealed in the Leader's Sept. 21 edition.

For a sample opinion we are asking notable locals to give us their own Best Of.

In this installment we caught up with former Beachcombers actor and Tsawwassen resident Jackson Davies for his Best Of choices.

Best place to find B.C.-made products: Ladner Village Market.

"It's the idea you can have the three-kilometre diet and you can buy local. I've always been a big supporter of buying local."

Best local artist: Jenny Whittall.

Davies says she's a little-known artist who creates eclectic, 10-foot-tall paintings of horses.

"They just look at you, they're magical," he says.

Although Whittle lives in Tsawwassen and works out of a studio, Davies says she's a world class artist who is flying under the radar.

Best local entrepreneur: Ron Toigo.

"It's one thing to be a business leader, but it's another thing to be a business leader is a small town," says Davies. Toigo could live in Vancouver where he'd find a little more privacy, but Davies says he chooses to live under the microscope and does quite well under that pressure.

Best place to walk: Beach Grove to Centennial Beach.

Davies says it's just a beautiful walk with wonderful seaside houses of glorious colours.

Best place to eat: Kon Thai Restaurant.

Although there are certainly fancier places to dine, Davies says Kon Thai is the best place to eat where few people know about.

"It's a fun place to eat. For an undiscovered find, it's worth a visit."

Best place to be a dog: Anywhere in Tsawwassen.

Davies says sunny Tsawwassen is the most dog-friendly place in the Lower Mainland, whether in town, running on the beach, or visiting shops.

"Dogs live longer in Tsawwassen," he says.

Be sure to visit the South Delta Leader again for more Best Of picks by other notable locals.

And remember, vote for your Best Of picks daily until Sept. 14.
