What's your 'Best Of?'

Bishop-BestOf-WEB.jpg

How persuasive or finely tuned-in is the South Delta Leader's annual Best Of survey?

If you look at last year's results of the most loved people, places and activities, the category of Best Community Leader may just tell the tale as Syliva Bishop topped the list.

Call it coincidence, or some hard work on the hustings, but Bishop managed to win one of the six seats on Delta Council, finishing second in the polls to Ian Paton with just under 11 per cent of the votes cast in last November's civic elections.

With that in mind, the Leader asked Bishop to name her Best Of choices for this year's survey.

Best Place To Buy BC Wine: Mudbay Wines, Tsawwassen

"If it can't be found at the local liquor store, Bishop says Mudbay Wines has a great selection to choose from. And if you can't choose?

"I love their recommendations if you're stuck."

Best Waterpark: Diefenbaker Park, Tsawwassen

Bishop says it's a great place for the family to bring a picnic basket and spend the whole day.

"I live nearby, and so in the summertime it is absolutely jam-packed and you can hear the kids laughing and squealing… it's like Centennial Beach without the ocean."

Best Local Facebook Group: Ladner's Landing

Bishop says they always have interesting posts, updates and a huge following (nearly 2,200 likes). Not to be confused with the nearby Landing pub and grill, Bishop says the page puts up a lot of a events to keep Ladner residents up to speed with what's going on in their community.

Best Place For A Date: Illuminate Restorante, Tsawwassen

Bishop says there's great food and friendly staff that has kept her coming back.

"We like sitting at the bar at the open kitchen so we can watch what's going on and see how food's being cooked. And I've actually picked up cooking tips as well."

Best Place For A Stretch: Open Space Yoga, Ladner

"When I've gone the staff is so good at understanding everybody is at a different level of ability and they really provide that personal touch."

Best Outdoor Patio: Sharkey's Seafood Bar and Grille, Ladner

"It's low-key, food is great, and you can't beat the water view. It's quiet and since we've had that part of the harbour cleaned up it's beautiful to look at."

Tell us what you about the above categories, and plenty more by voting.

Deadline to cast your votes—which can be made on a daily basis—is Sept. 14.

Results will be published in the Sept. 21 edition.
