Protesters call for end to oil tankers
Two dozen protesters in Ladner joined thousands across the province on Wednesday (Oct. 24) in a coordinated campaign against oil tankers and pipelines in B.C.
The Defend Our Coast protests were led by First Nations, environmental groups and labour unions.
They called on all levels to government to oppose the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline and oil supertankers on the coast.
Local protesters are also concerned about Port Metro Vancouver expansion and a proposal to ship jet fuel up the South Arm of the Fraser River.
