LETTER: Lost productivity

As a business owner of a small manufacturing plant in the Tilbury Industrial Park, I am very concerned with lost productivity due to traffic problems at the Hwy. 99/Hwy. 17 overpass.

Our employees find the traffic delays are at random times of the day, therefore finding it difficult to consistently be at work on time, regardless if they are on day or afternoon shift.

Our suppliers are reluctant to send delivery vehicles into our plant at certain hours due to traffic delays holding up their drivers from attending to other clients.

Our couriers will not come to our plant at certain hours due to the traffic delay. This delays our outbound shipments.

It is difficult enough to run a small business, without the added issues of employees not able to attend, delays in raw material deliveries, and delays in outbound shipments.

The overpass is shared with:

• northbound Hwy. 99 traffic

• container truck traffic from River Road heading toward the port. These trucks are so heavy and slow, the result is "one light-one truck."

• ferry traffic (on) Hwy. 17

Does Delta have any plans to improve this business issue in Tilbury?
