LETTER:
When it rains it pours. An article ran in last Friday's edition of the Leader (In search of a 'cool' donation, Sept. 23, 2011) about Food on the Corner Society's need for a freezer.
The response has been overwhelming, ever reminding us how much this community has contributed to our 30 years of successful "sorties" Downtown to Vancouver's notorious Eastside to feed the bodies, and souls of our homeless friends.
We now have a new freezer, as well, we replaced two very old commercial coffee urns.
We at Food on the Corner Society wish to thank the entire community for its support.
I would be remiss if I did not add that we are always looking for volunteers, weather it be soup makers, truck drivers, helpers downtown serving our friends, logistic support re: Internet expertise, co-ordinating teams, or just a prayer now and then.
R. Murray Bond
President,
Food on the Corner Society
