LETTER: SFPR route will leave Tsawwassen residents ‘screwed’
Led down the garden path once again!
It is beginning to look like we, the John Q. Public have been snookered once again.
Remember those wonderful promises that said the South Fraser Perimeter Road was being constructed in order to take those large container truck/trailers off our roads and make it safer for everyone?
Has anyone seen the proposals for Highway 17? A very close examination of the Section 1 map shows the plan now is to divert either all or most of the traffic north bound onto the SFPR at the very evident “diversion to nowhere” we now pass while traveling north on 17 while crossing the BC Railway resulting in a complete traffic merge of trucks and passenger vehicles albeit it on a new billion dollar road!
The existing highway is going to be reduced to one lane going on to Ladner, and this is to encourage all travelers to get onto the SFPR, merge with the trucks and take an extra-long journey to merge onto Highway 99 and joining all northbound traffic from South Surrey/White Rock.
What a treat!
Have you ever been told as a resident of Tsawwassen we are once again getting screwed?
If our Mayor and council sit back and accept this they should never get another chance to serve.
It is not too late to do something about this but once the pavement gets torn up at Hwy 17 and the BC Rail overpass it will be.
Once again - down the garden path!
