Delta's young athletes get official send off
Delta's young athletes heading to Vernon next week to take part in the 2012 BC Winer Games got an official send off from Delta's municipal and sports dignitaries on Monday (Feb. 13) evening.
Delta Mayor Lois Jackson told those assembled in the foyer of municipal hall there are 47 making the trip to the North Okanagan.
The youngest taking part is nine-years-old, and the average age of the group is 13.
Former Canadian Olympian (Montreal 1976) and Delta Sport Council member Joy Fera said that for many representing Delta it will be their very first multi-sport event and could help foster dreams of striving to compete at a higher level.
