South Delta Rams battle way to silver medals in flag football final
A trip to the Okanagan paid off with a slew of silver medals for the South Delta Rams U14 flag football team at the 2012 Spring Flag Provincials last weekend.
The Rams came up against a talent-laden team from Richmond in the final, losing 23-14 at the Capital News Center in Kelowna.
Ram coaches Brent Calvert and Dan Matwichyna said they were very proud of their team—ranked seventh going into the tournament—for battling their way through to reach the championship final game.
The silver medal winning U14 team included: Cooper Jones, Grant McDonald, Stefanos Goulas, Jordan Drab, Lucas Fair, James Greig, Maxwell Stalling, Douglas Jameson, Billy Matwichyna and Michael Calvert.
There were two other teams from the Rams organization at the finals. The U16 side finished fifth, and the Andy Grieg coached U14 team placed second on the consolation side of the tournament.
