Young Delta lacrosse talent recognized
A trio of young Deltans has been selected for Scholar Athlete Awards with the Burnaby Mountain Selects Lacrosse Team.
Liam Feenan, Erika Mackenzie, and Rory Trevorrow were among those 85 chosen for the awards that celebrate academic achievement and on-field excellence for each scholastic year.
Feenan, 13, who attends Immaculate Conception School plays midfield with the boy's elite, team.
Mackenzie, 17, attends Delta Secondary and plays with her high school team.
Trevorrow, 12, from Sunshine Hills Elementary is a defender with the boy's elite team.
This year’s BMS Scholar Athlete Awards recognizes student-athletes who competed in the fall 2011 and/or summer 2012 BMS Elite Touring Program and achieved an academic average of 80 per cent or higher for the 2011-2012 school year.
With the launch of the Burnaby Mountain Selects Girl’s Elite Touring Program in the fall of 2011, this year also marks the first ever female recipients of the BMS Scholar Athletes Awards. Each of the student-athletes will also be acknowledged for their outstanding academic achievement and receive an award certificate at the next Maple Leaf Awards Dinner Jan.26, 2013, an annual event that celebrates youth and collegiate field lacrosse in British Columbia.
